It's about the Students It's about the faculty The Funding Conundrum Investing in Excellence It's about the Donors Share Your Pride

Investing in excellence is what this campaign is all about.

Campaign priorities. The priorities we've identified come from University leadership envisioning a University for the 21st century. UM's Invest in Discovery campaign priorities include: scholarships and fellowships, faculty positions, program support and renovated and new facilities. To learn more about these campaign priorities please visit the Foundation website.

Scholarships and fellowships.

Jacob Baynham
Presidential Scholar

Jacob chose UM for its academic program and Missoula’s environment, and receiving a Presidential Scholarship added to the University’s appeal.  “Many students must have jobs outside of going to school.   My scholarship allowed me to focus on my studies and do the best I can.”  Additionally, he says, scholarships can make education a possibility for students who otherwise might not have that opportunity.

Faculty positions.

Paul Alaback,
Professor of Forest Ecology

“My research centers on the structure and function of forests and their relation to biological diversity across a range of scales. I am specifically interested in old growth ecology, biogeographic and land-use effects on plant diversity, global distribution and ecology of temperate rainforests and understory vegetation ecology. Current projects include ecological effects of salvage logging, effects of thinning on understory plants, ecology of exotic species, demography of long-lived forest understory plants and developing better resources for learning natural history.”
